ACLAS is a -Not For Profit organization with the initiative
to improve the quality of computer training and raise the academic literacy level in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. ACLAS
intends to accomplish it's goals by working closely with the Ministry of Education and any other Ministry or organization
that is committed to improving standard of living and quality of life of Vincentians. ACLAS will provide all the services needed to ensure that the students get the best quality
education in computer literacy, and that they get the most professional tutors and lecturers available to assist them in passing
the CXC and Common Entrance Exams. ACLAS will recruit the most experienced and most dedicated individuals
to ensure that proper teaching techniques, are demonstrated at the academy. Initially, the organization is expected to operate from Campden Park, and set up chapters
in various parts of the Island and internationally, with the support of the government, the private sector and our communities,
it is expected to expand and place some facilities throughout the Island and in the Grenadines. ACLAS will maintain small classes to ensure that the participants get all the attention they need. As
the organization upgrades it's website , it will provide on-line services to everyone and answer as many questions
as possible. It is the goal of the organizationl to make the site interactive and offer live assistance to the public.
Mission Statement:
To improve the literacy standards in St. Vincent and the Grenadines;
increase the passing percentages for Common Entrance and C.X.C
exams, and give adults the opportunity to continue their education long after they are out of academic life. These opportunities will better prepare Vincentians for the working world and college. By achieving
it's goals, ACLAS will give Vincentians the tools and resources they
need to demand higher wages in the work forces and seek higher paying job - thus improving the quality of life.
Objectives:
- To give members of the communities a chance to advance themselves
academically.
- To promote computer literacy on the Island, particularly
in the West Kingstown and South Leeward areas.
- Help members of the community build on their knowledge of computers, so that they may be able to compete
for jobs in the ever changing computer world.
- Provide the opportunity for adults to continue their education and prepare them for CXC exams and college.
- Assist students to prepare for the annual Common Entrance and
CXC exams.
- Provide computers to members of the community at
a very affordable price.
